This unit has helped me reflect and systematize my understanding of the different roles a teacher can have in a class. It helped me see more clearly how these roles are necessary for successfully guiding the students through different activities. Such an understanding will help me instill a mindset in my students where they are prepared to take risks and reflect on their own performance, while staying open to any guidance provided my me. While I am already familiar with the Common European Framework, it was useful to review it. While being familiar with the different motivations students can have for learning a foreign language, it was good to review that not all students have the same motivation levels, especially the younger learners who may be in class because they have to be there. Nevertheless, their willingness to participate may be dictated by what they intend to do with the language afterwards. Highlighting clear uses for the language, and how it could realistically benefit the students, may be good way to improve my students' motivation in the future.
