Unit 16 covers the different types of conditionals: zero, first, second, third and mixed. It also covers common mistakes made when learning these conditionals and provides example exercises to help students learn. The difference between direct speech and reported speech is also examined and discusses how time and verb tense influence the reported version of direct speech.
This was never an area that garnished my attention before today as it comes so automatically to a native English speaker. I found the change in tense between direct speech and reported speech to be a highly significant topic and the diagram that shows the proper conversions very helpful, both to myself and as a teaching method. However, a time context for some of the questions in the unit exam would have been helpful in bringing the concepts home fully.
