Unit 7 covers English vocabulary, grammar and functions. I learnt most lessons will introduce or focus on only one of these at a time. Following on from ESA methods learnt about in Unit 3 of this course, I learnt that lessons teaching grammar and vocabulary use the 'straight arrow' approach. The 'boomerang' or 'patchwork' ESA approach is more suited to function based English teaching lessons. I found this unit interesting because I have gained more understanding about effective ways for a teacher to introduce English language to the class.
