This unit is about classroom management. It is the skill of organizing and managing the class, having a friendly, relaxed manner and maintaining discipline. One of the main points for doing this is the eye contact and gestures, but it is important to know where and how to use them. The voice should change naturally according to the circumstances. Using students’ name is also important. It is not good to use the name on front of the question sentence. In this unit I also discovered the group work pros and cons. Whole class grouping creates a sense of belonging among the group, but it also reduces opportunities for students to speak. Individual working allows teachers to respond to individual differences in pace of learning, ability, but it restricts possibilities for student to student interaction and group belonging. Pairwork allows teacher to work with certain pairs while others continue working, but in this case students may find themselves working with a partner they don’t particularly like.
