This unit provided a clear juxtaposition between good and bad teaching strategies, while showing how the ESA lesson plans can be effective in reality. I have learned what good elicitation can look like in the engage section of a class, where the teacher addresses students by name and is clearly encouraging of all answers. he doesn't correct bad grammar or embarrass any students. in the activate stage, i learned how important it is to elicit correct answers from students before the activity. in lesson 1, the students were all terribly confused at the start of the activity whereas in lesson 2, everyone seemed confident and at ease. And while lesson 2 was still very good, I noticed some things that I would do differently, such as provide more clear overviews at the start of class, write student names on the board (unless I clearly had them memorized like he did), etc.
