The final unit covers the following topics: how to manage the first lesson, teaching different levels in the same class, teaching large classes, when and when not to use the native language, dealing with reluctant students, and overcoming difficulties when listening to texts. In the first lesson, it is recommended that the teacher establish rapport with the students and try to get an idea of what their English level is. If you are teaching a class with different levels of Englsih, a good idea would be to distribute different material (on the same topic) to stronger and weaker students. Grouping stronger students with weaker ones can result in productive group work. It is important to not speak so much in the students' native language. You should addapt the material to their English level so they can understand what is being discussed in class. If you encounter reluctant students that do not want to speak in front of the class, the best method would be to encourage them to do pair work, controlled practice, role play, or even use a tape recorder. Finally, just because the students are having trouble with the listening texts does not mean that the teaching method should be discarded completely. Gradually continue until the students are more receptive to the listening exercise.
