This unit deals with classroom management and how to deal with it. It deals with rapport in the classroom - how to establish it and maintain it and what to look out for. Another point is classroom discipline and what the reasons for a problematic behavior could be and how to deal with it. Furthermore it talks about how to arrange the classroom and group students for activities according to the size and type of activity. It mentions the advantages and disadvantages of every grouping, so that the teacher is aware of it and can switch between them to keep the students interested and intrigued. Last but not least, it covers the topic of facial expressions such as maintaining eye contact, when to use gestures to use and how to control the voice when and if needed.
In my case, these are the types of units that really help me get an insight into how to deal with a classroom regardless of its size. Being prepared which such information is the best advantage when there is a lack of practice. Something which I personally have a struggle with is keeping the TTT to a minimum. Though I know it may take a few tips and practice to solve this problem, reading the tips is definitely a great start.
