The twentieth unit of this course introduces the potential problems that a teacher can face in the process of work. Such problem situation can occur in first lesson, because the first class makes a significant impression on both teacher and students. It is essential to prepare well before coming to class and try to establish rapport with the students from the first lesson.
In addition, it often happens that in one group there are many students with different language levels. There are some techniques for dealing with this problem suggested in this unit. For example, teacher can use different materials for different levels or same materials but different tasks. The most effective approach, in my opinion, is pairing weaker students with stronger ones.
Finally, this unit focuses on large classes and possible ways of working with them effectively. The ideas for dealing with reluctant students are also quite useful, because working with students who are not willing to participate in a class is unavoidable.
