Equipment and teaching aids I would believe to be the most fun area of concern for a teacher like me that enjoys creativity and artistic engagement. In previous units I enjoyed learning about visual aids because that was a way I enjoyed learning. In my current class that I assist in, often times we combined both the use of our visual aids with an over head projector. This way the image is large and clear for all of the students to be able to see and engage.
In my Spanish high school class our teacher often used DVDs and Videos so we could hear every day Spanish and practice our listening comprehension. However, I found with this method, especially in younger students, it's often perceived as a time where the student can relax and take it easy because if we are watching films in class, it's not that important. (Their impression).
I think if a Video is being shown, or a CD is being played, it should be accompanied with a worksheet to make sure the students can keep their focus. So I believe that most equipment found in the classroom that we are able to use as tools should often be combined to create the best overall impression.
