It's important to have fully knowledge about Past tense to be able to apply correctly. This unit was very elucidating. Past Simple we have regular verbs(verb-ed) and irregular( there is no another option just to memorise them), and it's used for a past action when the time is given, the action is completed at a definite time in the past. Past Continuous is formed with auxiliary verb "to be" plus the present participle(verb+'ing') here we need to keep in mind that we will be using this tense for interrupted actions in the past and usually requires some form of time reference. Past Perfect is formed with the verb"had"plus past participle and we use it when we want to refer to a completely finished action, an action that occurred before other actions in the past. And finally Past Perfect Continuous we form it by using verb 'had' plus 'been' plus verb-ing used when referring to actions in the past that had been going on, in progress up to the past moment that we are referring to.
