This unit discussed modal verbs, phrasal verbs, passive voice, and relative clauses. These are all areas where meaning is different though the forms vary only slightly from each other. Although there are some rules that help explain these grammatical forms, practice and memorization will be a big part of learning how and when to use them and what they mean in different contexts. One factor about the meaning of modals that was not commented on in this unit is sarcasm which often uses one form while meaning quite the opposite!
