Different modal auxiliary verbs can express different meanings, degree of certainty and formality. As it is stated in the video materials of this unit, modal verbs can be taught in a different way depending on the level of students. With low level groups it can be appropriate to choose one modal verb with one usage, offering the specific context in which it can be used. This way can let students acquire the grammatical peculiarities of modal auxiliary verbs gradually, step by step.
The information regarding transitive and intransitive phrasal verbs, defining and non-defining relative clauses, difficulties that students might have with the passive voice and all the teaching ideas and examples introduced in this unit will be very useful and helpful to me when explaining these language points to my students.
