The two productive skills discussed in this unit are speaking and writing. Both speaking and writing are used for the same purpose which is to communicate ideas and language. It is the teachers responsibility to create the need and desire in the students to communicate. When practicing speaking and writing students can practice in accuracy or fluency exercises. Accuracy activities are more focused and controlled to make sure the student is producing correct language. An example of a fluency activity would be a role-play which is less focused on using 100% correct language. Both accuracy and fluency in writing and speaking are equally important. The teacher creates the activity in fluency activities, but the students will create the language which leads this type of activity to be more creative.
