This unit was helpful is showing the breakdown of different roles of a teacher. It is not only about knowing the content and standing in front of a room teaching. To be a good teacher a knowledge base is only the tip of the iceberg. You have to be able to read your students, learn when to engage them in activities, and encourage them. Caring about your students and their progress should be priority number one. It is vital to be able to read your students and assess where they are at any given time. Giving them encouraging feedback while also correcting mistakes is crucial. I feel that will be one of the biggest obstacles in teaching is to correct students without discouraging them to continue learning, and to not embarrass them to the point they feel anxious or unwilling to participate. Learning to seamlessly switch between roles will take practice but is completely in the realm of possibility to achieve.
