In this 10th unit we took a break from the reading materials to focus on two videos which show an example of effect teaching and ineffective teaching. It was fairly obvious the differences between the two videos showcasing the lessons. The teacher in the first video was clearly teaching an ineffective lesson. He appeared erratic and walked into the room without an introduction and just jumped right into talking quickly. It would have been better to start with a more effective engaging ESA segment to warm up the class. He seems impatient and harsh in correcting students and eliciting answers. In the second video the teacher starts the class professionally with a proper introduction to each member of the class. The teacher speak much more clearly and slowly in the second video. He also warms the class up with a proper engagement activity. Throughout both lessons the differences are quite clear. As an ESL teacher I will always strive to be more like the example in the second video.
