In this unit, I have learned about modals, passive voice and phrasal verbs. First is Modals. The 'modals' are can, could, would, should, shall, will, need, have to, need not, have got to and ought to. They are used before a verb to add meaning to the main verb. They also can be used to express many different ideas such as ability, advice, permission, possibility, and prohibition. Furthermore, it also can be used to express degrees of formality. A teacher can try roleplay, rules, or signs in teaching this material. Second is passive voice. There are two voices used in English there are an active voice and passive voice. We used passive voice when the 'doer' of the action is much less important, whereas in active voice the focus is in the agent or the doer of the action. Next is phrasal verbs, it is also known as multi-word verbs. It consists of a verb plus one or two particles. The particles could be prepositions plus an adverb and vice versa. There are three basic types of phrasal verbs, they are intransitive, transitive separable and transitive inseparable.
