This Unit was challenging and while I appreciate the importance of being able to use stresses to convey meaning and emotion in sentences and conversations, I think that altered pronunciation from an accent gives english color and makes it interesting. I would be loathe to scrub that away with my teaching. For example Spanish people pronounce many english words that don't start with an e with an e in front of the word like start they pronounce as es-start, and I think that is beautiful and interesting. I think I will only teach this when really necessary and when words or meanings are getting lost from poor pronunciation and not before.
