The evaluation and assessments are tools which help to measure the strengths and weaknesses of students. There are three ways to asses the student's language level: evaluation by the students, tutorials and tests. In the case of tests, there are different types described in the unit. Teachers can use them for different reasons, e.g. to gauge what students remember about the language, place students in the right level group, to see what the student knows before a course, etc.
In addition, knowing the different types of external examination and what they are about can be very useful to prepare students if they are interested in going to another country.
