This unit focused on the idea of classroom management, and how different environmental and teaching factors should be arranged in the class. The unit was about organizing and managing classroom arrangement such as seating arrangements and grouping, and also other factors of teaching such as eye contact, gestures, voice, position, and disciplinary methods. Some examples of seating arrangements included orderly rows, circles, separate tables, etc. all of those choices depending on the size of the class, physical space, and even student personality. In the case of factors having to do with teaching, the unit talked about how a standing position was much more dominant than a sitting position, and that all activities will require different amounts of teacher dominance. For example, reading will not require the teacher to stand in a dominant position, whereas other activities like language presentation and giving instructions will require the teacher to be at the center of focus and thus be standing for maximum effect.
