Lesson One was everything I expected it to be and more. Right off the bat, the reader is given a template of what characteristics a good teacher should exemplify. The lesson then makes it clear that by knowing what the expectations of a teacher are and by practicing them, a teacher will have greater success in the classroom. When a teacher understands their numerous roles in the classroom and is able to intelligently apply them, their students' learning will be enjoyable and productive. For an example, when a teacher is sensitive to their students' cultural backgrounds, the teacher will have insight into which teaching methods are the best fit for the learning environment. The unit then continues on to address the wide range of the Teacher's audience. The teacher's ability to gauge a student's learning level as well as the characteristics of successful learning, assist the teacher when interacting in the classroom in a way that meets the needs of all their students. To sum it up, successful learning is optimized when the information is being taught by a knowledgeable and empathetic teacher.
