There are advantages and disadvantages to everything that a teacher does. Authentic materials are usually more motivating and engaging for the students; however, they will not be leveled for specific grades. When students are successful with authentic materials, this will boost the confidence level. Created materials allows a teacher to use individual artistic ability and to tailor the materials to the specific students. These materials may be less engaging and care will need to be given to ensure that all topics are covered with the student. Several factors should be considered when selecting a course book such as price, availability, design, skills and the level of difficulty.
