I think it might a good idea to incorporate both authentic and created materials along with a coursebook into the class syllabus. A teacher could take the best parts of the coursebook and supplement them with authentic and created materials. Authentic material can always bring something fresh and new into the class room, ie, maybe it's someone famous whom the students know about, or something like a current event. The key is to keep the students engaged with the process, and I like the above described boomerang lesson in questions 8-12.
