Conditional phrases use the words "if" or "when" and contain two clauses: the "if" clause and the main clause. The "if" clause contains the condition that has to be met before the action in the clause in the main clause can be realized. When forming conditionals, it's important to remember the five main conditionals: zero, first, second, third, and mixed. Students should practice conditionals by understanding the result of the "if" clauses they form (or what could have possibly caused the "main" clause."
The second part of the unit goes over reported speech. Reported, or indirect speech, refers to speech that the current speaker did not say but is relaying the information to another listener in another time frame. When changing quotes into reported speech, often times you need to change the tenses as well as the pronouns.
