This unit looks at phonology, stress, articulation, intonations and the phonemic alphabet.As well as speech emphasis and the often overlooked subject of pronunciation. Pronunciation in any language is key to understanding the meaning of what you hear and using correctly will help deliver your message more clearly. It is of great importance as a teacher to allot time given to pronunciation, stress and intonation practice to stress the importance of accuracy and clarity of communication. This unit covered techniques and activities to use to help students gain confidence when practicing and using the english language. Using the phonemic alphabet would be helpful to introduce as a pronunciation guide and reference to students. Using specific teaching techniques such as gestures, songs, board diagrams, tongue twisters and peer dictations to engage the students and encourage learning and confidence.
