In this unit I learned about classroom management. I learned the techniques a teacher can utilize to facilitate learning and establish rapport. A teacher should always be calm, clear, and prepared. Also, teacher should use eye contact, gesture, and voice when managing and engaging the class. The unit also covered the various ways in which a class and students can be organized and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Methods to effectively deliver instruction and handle problematic behavior were also given. Instruction can be bolstered by simple language use, avoiding jargon, consistency and inclusion of visual cues. Problematic behavior should be addressed with a collected attitude and an immediate response, the focus should be on the behavior and not the student.
