In this unit I learned about conditionals and reported speech. Conditionals fall into multiple distinct categories, the zero conditional, the first conditional, the second conditional, the third conditional, and mixed conditionals. For example the zero conditional is used when referring to facts and is constructed with the following formula, if/when + present tense, present tense. Conversely, the third conditional refers to a hypothetical past action with a hypothetical past consequence, and is constructed with this formula, if + past perfect, would/could/might + have + past participle. For reported speech, the unit explained how direct speech is translated into reported speech, and highlighted the respective tenses can change. It also covered various teaching ideas to engage the students with the concept.
