Personally, I disagree with the author's classification of Modal verbs since I was taught that expressions such as HAVE TO, NEED TO, BE ABLE TO and others, are not examples of this category because they change form depending on the personal pronoun utilized. They are considered as Semi modal verbs. However, I understand that introducing such a concept would have involved adding unnecessary complexity to a topic which is beyond the scope of this unit whose main goal is to offer a simple overview of certain grammatical structures.
