This chapter deals discusses the teachers choice of using course books or generating their own course material. The chapter explains that teachers have quite a range of opinion on which types of materials work best. The chapter divides the materials into tow categories authentic and created materials. The chapter lists the benefits and the disadvantages of course books and created materials. The lesson includes some useful examples of created material that show that this type of material can be graded for level of students, interesting, targeted, and motivational. Overall, the lesson seems to show that a balance of course books along with some teacher created material would be an effective way of teaching the English language.
