After studying the content of this unit, I have a much deeper understanding of the important of teaching phonology. As the text suggested, as a native English speaker, the idea of teaching intonation and phonology is daunting to me; I can hear or look at a sentence and understand the pronunciation of words that are spelled the same (like tough and rough), or understand the meaning of a sentence based on the intonation/stress on syllables or words. I do, however, feel that I have a basis of understanding for teaching these topics, and will do more reading on my own to better prepare myself.
