As was mentioned at the beginning of the unit, when teachers think about textbooks there seems to be no consensus regarding its usefulness. Some may regard them as too inflexible, too general or dealing with topics that are not completely relevant to their students. Textbooks may even show a fast pace of aging; signs of outdating can even be presented in the use of obsolete technology (cassette tapes, for instance). Besides, teachers are not usually the ones who can decide whether or not to use a specific textbook. I think the best thing we could have would be a web based, customizable textbook so, we could have a structured syllabus with the advantage of using tools to create professional- looking material suited to our students. Probably, this kind of textbook exists already.
