Unit 4 focused on the four present tenses: present simple, present continuos, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. I'm still amazed at how for a native speaker I can roll through the proper tense without a thought to the complexities of the grammar, yet be flummoxed when it comes to dissecting the finer points and wedding speech to rules. I think that to become truly fluent in the tenses, one must not only review them daily, at least for a long while, or flat-out memorize the rules. The typical errors was a great section, as it allows the teacher to prepare so they are able to quickly and properly correct the student. I can't imagine that a teacher would try to teach them at the same time. However, thinking back to my years in grade school leaves me with the impression that when I was taught, it was all tenses at the same time. I am eager to see some additional methodologies for assisting students through this process.
