In this unit, the usage of grammar was explained in regards to how nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verb etc are used in a sentence. The course explained how to correctly identify parts of speech and their meaning(s) as well as what words are categorized within them. A basic sentence needs a subject, verb, object and a noun or pronoun. In addition, these parts of speech have additional subparts of their own. For example there are countable and noncountable nouns that distinguish if an article e.g a, an, the; can be placed before the noun. The course also discussed gerunds which is the -ing suffix of a verb. Throughout this unit I have learned how to correctly indentify parts of adverbs, verbs, prepositions as well as conjunctions. I learned what a gerund was which is a new vocabulary word for myself. I felt that I have learned how to better categorize parts of grammar and how to correctly form a sentence. For example when creating a sentence with multiple adjectives one must place them in order from size, age,color, material and noun.
