In this unit, two videos were presented, one a poorly executed lesson and the other a well executed, level appropriate lesson. The first video was the poorly executed lesson. The teacher arrives late, stumbles unclearly over material, though the students express confusion. The teacher then rushes them through the study phase as timing was poorly planned before starting an activity that is not explained and the teacher is the center of attention. In the second video the teacher takes time to learn the students' names. He then elicits previous learned material from students to build off of, he appears friendly by laughing and smiling while having students form sentences. Once he is certain the goal is understood he breaks the class into small groups to work on worksheets. In the meanwhile, he prepares the board and monitors to make sure there are no questions and see how the students are progressing. He also makes it clear that there is no pressure to finish the worksheet as they will go over it as a class. The teacher then ensures that each piece of the activate phase (bingo) is understood and goes through multiple examples of what student are about to participate in. During this phase, the teach participates by allowing the students to ask him questions, but does not make the activity about himself. To finish the lesson they go over the bingo sheet together.
