Unit 1 talks about the roles both teachers and students play in the classroom. I learned that as a teacher, your personality helps in students learning, but more importantly, it's the relationship that a teacher and student has that shapes their learning. A teacher takes on many roles during the learning stage: participant, tutor, resource or facilitator, model, observer or monitor, manager or controller, organizer, assessor, and prompter. It’s important to consider the factors of a learner, their age, experience, motivation, etc., before deciding which roles to use.
