This unit covered parts of speech. The first section contained the multiple types of nouns such as compound (two nouns forming one new one) and proper (a specific place or person) nouns. The second section covered adjectives and the two types of comparison adjectives. The first, comparative, describes comparisons between two objects and usually end in -er. The second adjective is the superlatives adjective which compares two groups and usually ends in -est. The third section looked at articles, definite (the) and indefinite (a, an) and how they are used to gain a broader understanding of countable and uncountable nouns. The fourth section contained the different types of verbs, transitive, intransitive, infinitive, and auxiliary. The section on verbs specified verbs aren't only actions but also states of being, which never really occurred to me until I read that sentence. This was followed by adverbs which describe a verb as an adjective would a noun, but can also sometimes help describe an adjective. The next topic was the gerund, which is a verb turned into a noun by adding -ing, the example used was playing. This sections shifted into pronouns, which make specific nouns less so, such as, she or it. The last two topics were prepositions and conjunctions. Prepositions add relation between objects such as under and over, while conjunctions connect two words or sentences.
