Every kind of coursebooks has not only got several benefits but some drawbacks as well.
On the one hand,books provide a syllabus graded to a level suitable for the students and it can also offer many good ideas to the unexperienced teachers.Furthermore,it continually practices language items previously introduced and the materials have normally been tried and tested before plublication.
On the other hand though,teachers should not always go by the book due to the different needs may a classroom have.Some exercises could be replaced or adapted appropriately and some added extra material would be needed to reinforce a language or a grammar point.For instance,there are books which are really beneficial as fas as the vocabulary or the comrehension is concerned but they are inadequate in grammar and vice versa.There is a need for extra materials either authentic or created ones so that students can practise more.
