The unit began by discussing the different conditional forms (Zero, First, Second, Third and Mixed) by going over their rules for forming a sentence with them as well as explaining their usages and providing examples to illustrate those rules and usages. The unit concluded this section by discussing common mistakes and errors involved with conditional forms as well as teaching ideas (split sentences,chain conditionals, etc). Next the unit went over reported and direct speech explaining what happens when direct speech is converted into reported speech (question words remain the same, but the verb form changes into a positive form). This section of lesson also provided a chart explaining the conversion of verb tenses when changing a sentence from direct to reported speech and illustrated how pronouns also change with this conversion as well. The lesson concluded by going over how time expressions are modified in direct to reported speech conversions (Today to that day, yesterday to the day before, tomorrow to the next day, etc), potential student errors as well as teaching ideas (intermediaries, reporting verbs and media interviews).
