The past simple tense is use to describe a actions completed in the past.
Past continuous tense is used for interrupted past actions or usedwith t or without a time expression. It can express an action wich began before that time and continuous after. Past perfect tense is the past equivalent of ths present perfect. The words after and when are often used to show that a past action has completely finished before another action in the past starts. The past perfect continuous is used to talk about a longer action or situation in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment that we are thinking about.
