In this unit I have learnt that modal auxiliary verbs add meaning, probability, necessity, permission, ability, need or advice to sentence being spoken.
They can also add formality or manners within the sentence. e.g. might, must, may, can, should etc. Passive and active speech when learnt by students can assist them in determining the subject of the sentence e.g. I painted the room or the room was painted. It appears though that most of the grammar in this unit should only be taught to students with a high degree of English language ability as it can be very difficult to students without adequate comprehension and experience with the language.
