Oh my goodness one of those units I did not expect in the course. Yes, every culture has their own pronunciation of the English alphabet. It is good there is an International Phonemic Alphabet, not that it is necessarily going to solve pronunciation problems. It was very good for me to see and hear that many teachers do work pronunciation into their English language lessons. I agree this is a vital but neglected part of teaching English.
