This unit introduces us to four basic skills, that can be found in every language, and they are: reading and listening (receptive skills) and speaking and writing (productive skills), and further focuses on the receptive ones only. We are told our listening and reading depends on a reason, and that based on that reason we choose how to choose and select (we could say filter) information. We are also given some advice on how to teach receptive skills and how to make it for students as easy as possible to learn and comprehend.
