Unit 5 talks about classroom management. Wich includes Eye contact,gestures and the voice. Grouping students, classroom management, writing on the board, giving individual attention, Teacher talking time and student talking time, giving instructions, establising rapport, and maintaining dicipline.
I learned how eye contact is very important to establish good rapport with the students. We can use it showing students that they are involve in the lesson, and to maintain dicipline. The use of gestures are effective in increasing the pace of the lesson and helps to reduce verbal explanation. The voice usage should change naturally according with the circumstances in class also need to be carefull that my voice is not monotone as it will create a bore class. Also I learned that I have four ways to group students as whole class, students working on their own, pairwork, or groupwork. I like learning how to arrange my class like orderly rows, horseshoe, separate tables. I personally like the horseshoe idea because it helps the students not to feel intimidate it by the teacher been infront or students feeling that they are infront or back of the class.
