Conditionals are sentences that contain "if" and "when" and refer to the past. The five main clauses are "Zero", "First", "Second", "Third", and "Mixed" conditionals. Many students may be confused in the different usages. "Reported Speech" and "Direct Speech" are often confusing as well for non native English speakers. One trick or rule to use when teaching "reported speech" is that there are never quotation marks. Students should familiarize themselves with "Time Expressions" and know the different verb tenses, patterns, pronouns, questions, etc.
