Central City, Iowa TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
In this unit, the teachings of different groups were discussed for example one on one teaching, client-based teaching, beginner teaching, and teaching to children. There are different levels for beginner students, some may know a few words and sentences while others know no English at all, plus age is a factor as well. This unit, gave me teaching tips for a variety of beginner levels. In addition, any problems that may arise when teaching beginners for example what to do if I cannot get through a whole lesson during classroom time. When teaching one on one there are many advantages for both the student and the teacher. The teacher and the student can have a better relationship and gain trust more quickly compared to other settings. By maximizing the amount of information the teacher knows of the students interests and their weaknesses, one on one teaching can be extremely beneficial. When teaching children one must know how to grab their attention throughout the whole lesson and to keep them focused on the lesson at hand. Difficulties may arise with behaviors if the teacher has not established a good rapport with students from the beginning. However other issues outside of school may lead to behavioral issues inside of school, if that happens I as a teacher must take action and talk to the schools administrators. This course, gave me great suggestions for lessons with children. I must speak slowly, simple and direct. If I were to teach clients on a business level I must worry more about how to teach them English and less about understanding their job requirements. When teaching for outside clients especially on a business level there’ll be a variety of ages and I could be working with our boss and their s subordinates, I must show all of them equal respect and give clear instructions about what is expected from not only them but what they expect of me. This course, has taught me how to handle a variety of specific teaching environment I may face as well as the materials I will need to teach.
