In this unit I have mainly learned two receptive skills which are reading and listening. And there are two productive skills which are speaking and writing. These are four basic skills in any language; they are equally important. I have learned the reasons for reading and listening which can be divided in two fairly wide-ranging categories----for a purpose , for entertainment. For example, reading instructions on a new video recorder and listening to instructions are for a purpose. But in the other hand, by reading a novel from a favorite author can be a great example for ascertainment. As well I have learned how we read and listen. There are several required skills will be needed during reading and listening. Such as predictive skills. In the end, I learned the teaching and learning of receptive skills presents quite a number of potential problems which need to be addressed. These are mainly in connection with the language contained in the text, the topic and tasks the students will perform.
