I am pleased to learn about the ESA methodology of teaching English. The techniques of teaching have clearly evolved from the early techniques of translating or drilling. The ESA methodology is wholistic, creating a desire to communicate through relevant prompts, then honing in on some of the specifics of pronunciation, spelling and grammar and then backing off again and letting students use all the resources and vocabulary they have learned to communicate as fluently as possible. This approach resonates with me and the lesson ideas are very helpful.
