In this unit we look at modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. It is very important to teach these three grammar points in a different way. By this I mean that modal verbs and semi-modal verbs need a separate lesson or in fact several lessons in order to be taught and explained to the students so that they can appreciate and fully understand the nuances that exist between modal verbs. On the other hand as mentioned in this unit phrasal verbs can be introduced into the lesson "unofficially" provided the students understand the meaning and the teacher can use them in context. Once the students have achieved an intermediate or higher level it becomes easier to use phrasal verbs. Finally the passive voice also
requires one or two grammar lessons but if as in my case you are teaching french students then it much easier to explain the active versus the passive voice.
