Reading and listening are indeed 2 important skills. I find it assuring that you list 2 reasons for listening and reading. One being for a purpose the other for entertainment. I really never connected the reasons we read or listen. That will be important as students are learning a language. One of the things that strikes me with respect to this lesson is the level at which the student is currently learning. I feel it would be difficult at times to find things for the early, beginner learners. The idea of authentic and non-authentic material makes it clear that early on there will be much more material to read and listen to which is non-authentic texts.
