This unit I learned about evaluation and testing and the different types there are for English Second Language students. I think this unit was straight forward, and provided good insight on the types of testing available for teachers- especially the variety. Understanding a students motivations for learning English will help you be able to understand their needs and the types of testing that will be beneficial for them as well (eg. BULATS test for future business professionals). I also thought it was important to note that teachers often don't enjoy testing, but that testing can be beneficial in that it can help you understand the language level of your student and how you can service them better. In my opinion I think progress tests are the most effective- as they are not as stressful for students, but can help students learn and remember more course work over the course of the year.
