In this unit, I learned the different implications and effects on understanding that intonation and stress can cause in a sentence. Intonation usually gives the 'expectation' to a sentence, for instance weather an answer is expected in return, or weather the current speaker is in an excited or ambivalent mood towards the present conversation, whereas the stress on a single word can give 'hidden' statements and implications towards what has previously been said in the conversation.
I also learned that there are a few differences between written speech and spoken that arise from the natural flow of native speakers.
One instance of this is don't you being pronounced as dont'cha.
Finally i learned the different structures and airflows that are responsible for the different sounds made possible by the english language and it' phonemic alphabet.
